Receiving Items

You should check your shipment(s) when it arrives for damage to containers. Any claim should be made immediately with the carrier. You or anyone accepting delivery must follow some simple guidelines to assure you get what you ordered. If you fail to check your shipment, you may forfeit any right to compensation for the damage or loss of the items. You should check the number of boxes or items you receive against the freight bill. If there is any problem, note the problem on the receipt you sign from the freight company. Check the shipment for signs of damage such as broken straps or tears in the packaging. If you note any damage, make sure the delivery company representative signs your copy noting the damage on that copy. You should immediately request an inspection of the merchandise that is damaged. You should keep all packaging materials from that shipment. You should file a damage claim with the delivery company for the value of the damaged merchandise. Keep the damaged merchandise and packaging until the claim is settled. You should open the packages after accepting delivery and make sure there is no hidden damage. If anything is damaged you follow the same steps as above with the delivery company. If you have someone other than yourself sign or accept your shipment, it is as if you signed for it yourself.
